Be inspired and learn from Lynne Gackle
Directors may spend the day in sessions with Lynne Gackle, the Director of Choral Activities at Baylor University and holds the Mary Jane Gibbs Professor of Music Chair. She conducts Baylor Bella Voce, Baylor Concert Choir, teaches choral conducting, choral literature and serves as the Director of the Ensemble Division.
Recognized for her research on the female adolescent voice, Lynne is the author of Finding Ophelia’s Voice, Opening Ophelia’s Heart (Heritage) and is a contributing author for other books published by GIA, Oxford, and Hal Leonard/McGraw Hill.
Your advanced students will walk away with even greater skills!
Advanced high school sight-reading students may sign up for a superb day with John Baker, one of the nation’s experts on the teaching of sight-singing.
Students new to the concepts of sight-singing will gain from this session!
Erika Lockwood and Karen Bohart present “Beginning Sight-Reading for High School Students.” You’ll be amazed at how fast your students pick up the fundamentals and gain confidence as music readers as these two master teachers work with your choir members!
2019 ACDA Fall Workshop and Middle School Honor Choir Opportunity!
Start your year off with an incredible choral singing experience for your middle level singers! Participate in a day of exciting learning with extraordinary choral educator and singer from the Salem-Keizer School District: Becca Hollen
Becca has been working with middle school voices since 2010 and is currently the choir director at Whiteaker Middle School. Her choirs have performed at OMEA, ACDA and placed first at Best in the NW four years in a row. Becca will take your kids on a personal and educational journey that will include warm up and rehearsal techniques, musicianship/leadership development and the building of community through song. Her literature choices include- “Nine Hundred Miles” by Phillip E. Silva, and “I Wanna Be Ready” by Rosephayne Powell.
Registration will be at the low cost of $30.00 per singer and should be posted on the ACDA website along with details for the entire MS, HS singer and director opportunities soon. Your singer will receive a T-shirt, the songs listed above (to be rehearsed before arrival) and a part rehearsal track for all three songs.
This will be a wonderful day of inspirational singing and instruction. An experience they will remember for a life-time! The music and rehearsal tracks will be sent to you after receiving the registration form and complete payment by our workshop chair, Cinda Reeves-Snyder.
